Today the Preschoolers headed down to the National Museum of Australia. Upon arrival we headed straight into Connections where we heard amazing music and looked at some beautiful artwork done by Australian Indigenous artists. Once we were finished we continued to explore the rest of the museum where we found the new discovery play space!

During our NAIDOC Week celebrations the Toddlers started looking closer at a portrait that was done of Cathy Freeman. Through this investigation we tried some of the events that she competed in during the Olympics and had discussions about some of her other life achievements. To continue on with our investigation we headed across to the National Portrait Gallery and took part in an experience called Little Faces. During this experience the Toddlers got to have another look at the portrait of Cathy Freeman and did some stretching just like she was in the picture. We also got to learn some new songs which we created with our own dance moves. After we had a look at the portrait we went back the special room to create some statues of ourselves using toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaners and Crete paper. |
